We are now right into the business end of the season and Newcastle United are placed in a healthy sixth position in the Premier League.

Six more League games to go, beginning with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Wednesday evening.

The Toon have won three and drawn one of our last four league games, confidence and form is returning on the pitch, and there is brighter news regarding injured players.

Here I’m going to look at our remaining fixtures and predict what I think will happen and why.

First up is Palace away and Newcastle United will have had 11 days to recover and recuperate from our exertions whilst thrashing Tottenham Hotspur at St James’ Park.

Oliver Glasner took over two months ago and Crystal Palace pulled off a rare win at the weekend, defeating Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield.

Palace have a London derby at home against West Ham United on Sunday before our visit. Hopefully this will take it out of them before we arrive.

Palace have some talented players the likes of Eze, Olise and Joachim Anderson, who the Toon are apparently keeping tabs on.

I’m going to go with Alexander Isak to continue his goalscoring run and the Magpies to overcome the Eagles 2-1.

On Saturday the 27th of April we entertain Sheffield United at Gallowgate. The Blades have had a nightmare Premier League season of near Sunderland and Derby County proportions.

Newcastle United hammered them 8-0 at Bramall Lane and I can see us winning this game by at least two clear goals.

On May 4th we travel to Turf Moor to play Vincent Kompany’s relegation threatened Burnley.

I’ve no doubt that the Clarets will give us a good game in the same spirit that their boss used to play, however, I don’t think they have enough in their armoury to battle it out with a resurgent Newcastle United over 90+ minutes.

It’s going to be another win on our travels by the odd goal again.

Brighton and Hove Albion are the next visitors to Tyneside on the 11th May and the Seagulls will arrive in the knowledge that they are safe and welcome in our community.

It has become difficult to predict Brighton’s results and they have dropped off a little from the form and standards they set last season.

Roberto De Zerbi has an erratic personality and I wonder if this gets transferred on to the pitch during games.

By now I expect Newcastle to be in full flow and I’m confident that we will chalk up our fifth League win on the bounce.

It is then on to the game that will define our season at Old Trafford, Manchester United midweek and under the lights.

We schooled them with a makeshift team in the same scenario in this season’s Carabao Cup and we are well capable of doing it again.

Erik ten Hag is a dead man walking and the Red Devils often look bang average. In fact, they are very lucky to currently be just one position below us in 7th place.

This game will probably come down to whose strikers and forwards can rise to the occasion.

I know that I would rather have Isak, Gordon and Barnes than Hojlund, Rashford and Garnacho.

I think Newcastle have a better side than Man United and that we’ll come away from Salford with a point.

Our final game of the season is against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

I’m hoping Thomas Frank’s team are already on the beach but I know that the Bees are well capable of throwing a spanner in our works.

They aren’t a bad side at all and I think that this game will also end in a draw.

So that’s 14 points from a possible 18 which will bring us a total of 64 points.

I firmly believe that Alexander Isak will smash the 20 goal mark in the Premier League and that Newcastle United will finish in 6th position.

Not bad at all considering the ups and downs we have had to encounter over the last nine months of a roller coaster ride of a campaign.
