What Philippe Coutinho told his wife after meeting Lionel Messi | OneFootball

Phillippe Coutinho revealed that he indeed gets star-struck like the rest of us, telling reporters at Sport his first encounter with Lionel Messi and his hilarious child-like reaction when he came home to his wife.

The 25-year-old Brazilian joined from Liverpool in January, where he told the media he had a very similar reaction when meeting Steven Gerrard.

“Luis [Suárez] and Leo are very close, and me and Luis knew each other from Liverpool, so it was Luis that organised the meeting,” Coutinho said.

“When you’re by Leo’s side, you’re a little nervous, it was the same for me at Liverpool with Gerrard.

“With Leo, I thought: ‘You’re with the best player in the world!’, but I saw that he’s an incredible person and he’s super relaxed.

“When I got home, I said to my wife: ‘Caramba! I have been eating with Messi!’, and we both laughed our heads off, it was really funny.”

Coutinho has scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 22 matches for the blaugrana.
