While Bayern Munich are still preparing for more departures in the summer, it looks like the chase for new players has stopped.

A total of 10 players have left Bayern Munich this summer, generating a transfer record of 80 million euros profit from departures, while spending almost 138 million euros on newcomers. With Joshua Zirkzee’s future being sorted out soon, the total profit from departures could increase.

Players like Robert Lewandowski, Niklas Süle, and Marc Roca left in the summer, while there are a couple of players who are still having their future sorted out, such as Joshua Zirkzee, Tanguy Nianzou, and especially Bouna Sarr, deemed as one of the worst transfers in the modern era.

While Joshua Zirkzee has several clubs chasing after him, Tanguy Nianzou’s future is slowly sorted out as several French clubs have emerged for the services of the young defender. Whether it’s permanent or a loan it is still being discussed. However, things with Bouna Sarr seem to be way more difficult.

The Senegalese has been a strong candidate for sale since last year, but Bayern have not succeeded at all in selling the right-back, who came from Marseille on 10 million euros in 2020. Internally, it was believed that nobody wants to take responsibility for the transfer.

Sarr had no intentions to leave up until winter 2022. Clubs from Turkey and Italy had inquired about the player, including Sarr’s former club Marseille, however, Sarr had no intentions to leave at that particular time as he wanted to focus on the African Cup of nations and build up a strong impression.

After winning the AFCON trophy with Senegal, Sarr meanwhile changed his mind and did not consider his future in Munich safe anymore. In the past, Sarr had no intentions to leave also due to the fact that he wanted to impress head coach Julian Nagelsmann, who had already arrived in the summer of 2021 as Hansi Flick’s successor. The Senegalese felt comfortable in Munich and did not have any thoughts about leaving.

It’s been seven months since the last time a club had enquired about Bouna Sarr, as it seems, no club during this period of time has approached Bayern Munich at all for Sarr and the club is having trouble getting rid of the right-back. The plans so far did not seem to have gone well for Sarr, who wanted to use the AFCON tournament to attract interest from other clubs.

With no club having approached Sarr yet, things are looking complicated for Bayern and the board, according to SportBild. What’s the bigger irony is that Bayern are struggling to find a buyer for Sarr due to his lengthy contract and salary, the same factors that made Sarr not have any second thoughts about leaving Bayern in the first place.

According to rumors, Sarr earns 2.5 million euros at Bayern, and that’s a really high amount for every modest club that wants to lure Sarr, also because of the fact that Sarr wants a new club that can match his salary demands. Unfortunately, no club seems to be willing to pay Sarr what he wants.

It remains to be seen whether Bayern will finally be able to sell Sarr in the summer. So far there has been no success in finding a potential buyer for the Senegalese and time is running out. Julian Nagelsmann doesn’t consider Sarr in his plans and neither does the club, although the player trains regularly with the first team.
