Football mourned two devastating losses when Liverpool and Portugal striker Diogo Jota, 28, tragically died in a car accident in Zamora, Spain, alongside his brother André Silva.
The Portuguese Football Federation paid tribute to both players, praising Jota's talent and character. UEFA held a minute’s silence before Portugal’s Women’s EURO match, with further tributes held during Liverpool's pre-season friendly with Preston later in the month.

Nico Williams surprisingly extended his contract with Athletic Club until 2035, ending speculation about a move to Barcelona.

The summer transfer window clicked into gear in July, with Arsenal bringing in Kepa Arrizabalaga and Noni Madueke - both from Chelsea - plus highly-rated Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi and Christian Nørgaard from Brentford.
Chelsea were busy too, signing Brazilian forward João Pedro from Brighton and Dortmund's English winger Jamie Gittens. Elsewhere in the Premier League, Mohammed Kudus swapped West Ham for Tottenham, while newly promoted Burnley signed veteran full-back Kyle Walker from Manchester City.
On the continent, Barcelona completed a deal for Swedish wonderkid Roony Bardghji, while perhaps the most romantic move of the window so far saw 39-year-old living legend Luka Modrić join AC Milan following the expiry of his Real Madrid contract.
