What Chelsea decided to do with unwanted players at Cobham this week is ruthless but good

What Chelsea have decided to do with their unwanted players at training this week is ruthless but I love it as well!

Chelsea are currently trying to sell a bunch of players before the window closes at the end of this month, so there are more than a handful of ‘unwanted players’ at Cobham this week in training.

Sources: Chelsea still in the market for a new striker, new centre back, and a new goalkeeper this window!

I guess midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka might be one of them having been on loan last season with Dortmund. He is expected to return their as well, with a reported deal of £22m being on the cards and claims it’s already done.

Nicolas Jackson isn’t exactly in that category, but he is also definitely being sold this summer according to Fabrizio Romano. I don’t think he will be training with the unwanted group as of right now though, but he is certainly off if the Romano report is to be believed.

There are a number of players though who are now at Cobham just waiting for moves away, continuing to train for their match fitness.

The Athletic are reporting that Chelsea’s unwanted players have been working separately at Cobham for almost a month, building fitness while they and their representatives work on finding moves elsewhere.

Ruthless but good

Some might see this as the club being brutal or ruthless, and it probably is. But I don’t mind it too much at this point.

It’s not exactly treating them badly it is treating them with honesty. Obviously all parties know the player is being sold and the player is probably wanting said move as much as Chelsea do. So removing them from the group so they cannot negatively effect the players who are staying is a smart move.
