After two wins in a row, it’s natural that there’s a lot of focus on Chelsea’s game this weekend.
The Blues can keep their Champions League hopes alive with a win over newly-crowned Champions Liverpool in what promises to be a really fascinating game. But before that, there’s another hurdle to jump, against Djurgarden in the Conference League on Thursday night.
We don’t know much about them, but the Chelsea website opted for a player who is going to start in that game – and who knows a little more about them – goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.
Jorgensen admits that, despite being born in Sweden, he’s no expert on Swedish football or Djurgarden:
“I don’t follow the Swedish league that much, but of course, I have heard of Djurgarden. It is a big club in Sweden with a lot of supporters and a great stadium,” the stopper said.
“We train hard and we study our opponents before the matches and do our best to counter their strengths and what they are good at,” Jorgensen explained.
“We have played well [in the Conference League]. We try our best and I think we have done well.”

Jorgensen has played 11 of our 12 games in this competition, missing only the away game against Copenhagen when he briefly switched roles with Robert Sanchez who has been first choice in our league games.
It’s fair to say that through all 11 of those games Jorgensen has not been tested much, given the quality of opposition. But Djurgarden must be decent to have made it this far, and whether it’s over these two legs on in the final (should we make it) we’re sure the young goalkeeper will have his chance to really contribute to this campaign.
