Brighton’s Pascal Groß absolutely loves a goal against Manchester United.

And his latest heroics put the Seagulls ahead at Old Trafford on opening weekend to get Erik ten Hag’s men off to the worst possible start before he pounced on a rebound shortly afterwards to add another at Old Trafford.

Incredibly for the German, of the 19 Premier League goals he has scored in his career, six of them have came against the Red Devils, just under a third of his overall haul.

That is an impressive statistic but not one which appeared to impress Cristiano Ronaldo as he watched on from the substitutes bench with Christian Eriksen leading the line, even if he was caught looking somewhat bemused by it after attempting to gee up his team-mates.

Although there were appeals too from United over an offside in the build-up to the first goal, replays showed just how perfectly Danny Welbeck timed his run in behind Harry Maguire.

Reminder that this is a Brighton side who have lost two starting players from their 4-0 win in this fixture last season.

The Premier League is well and truly back.
