Weymouth Wales FC meets Cibao in Caribbean Cup debut | OneFootball

MIAMI — The 2025 Concacaf Caribbean Cup continues with Weymouth Wales FC against Cibao FC in Group B on Tuesday at the BFA Technical Centre in Wildey, Barbados.

It will be a historic match as Weymouth Wales becomes the first Barbadian side to participate in the Concacaf Caribbean Cup. The club will join Notre Dame (1997, 1998) and Paradise SC (2000) as only the third team from Barbados to participate in a Caribbean regional tournament.

For Cibao FC, this clash also marks their first encounter with a Barbadian club. The Dominican side leads Group B after the first matchday thanks to a 2-nil victory over defending champions Cavalier FC. Omar de la Cruz and Carlos Ventura were the scorers in that match.

Weymouth Wales and Cibao FC will meet for the first time in international competition, marking a fresh chapter in Caribbean club football. Weymouth Wales becomes the first-ever Barbadian side to compete in the Concacaf Caribbean Cup and only the third to participate in a Caribbean regional tournament, joining Notre Dame (1997 and 1998) and Paradise SC (2000) in the former CFU Club Championship.

Barbadian clubs have played a total of seven CFU matches, with a record of four losses, two wins, and one draw. This will be their first-ever meeting against a team from the Dominican Republic.

For Cibao FC, this match also marks their first encounter with a Barbadian club. The Dominican side will face its 20th different Caribbean opponent in official regional competitions. Between 2017 and 2022, Cibao played against 10 different teams in the CFU (6 wins, 6 draws), and from 2023 to date, they have faced 10 more in the Caribbean Cup (7 wins, 2 draws, 2 losses).

Cibao FC began their Group B campaign with a 2-0 victory over Cavalier FC in a rematch of the 2024 final, with goals from Omar de la Cruz in the 20th minute and Carlos Ventura in the 73rd.
