… their time in Philadelphia:

Dino Toppmöller: “We made a conscious decision to do recovery work on Thursday, and today we had an intensive session. Now we want to round off our training camp on Saturday with a good game against a really good team.” Paxten Aaronson: “It obviously feels nice to return to the club where it all began for me. I came to Union when I was ten and worked my way up to the first team. It’ll be a special game for me and I’m really looking forward to it.”

… Philadelphia Union:

Paxten Aaronson: “The youth academy was already one of the best around when I was here. But when I see everything that’s been built here now, I really wish we’d had all of this back then. The club is doing a great job in terms of development. The young players have excellent conditions. The first team is doing very well under the new coach Bradley Carnell. When you’re at the top of the [Eastern Conference] table like Union are, you can’t be doing too much wrong.”

… Paxten Aaronson:

Dino Toppmöller: “Paxten is a part of our team. I’ve known him since my first year in Frankfurt. In my opinion, it was a very good decision for him to go to the Netherlands to gain match practice. What he did there was impressive. We’re happy to have him back with us. As a team, we want to go as far as possible in every competition, so we’ll need every single player for that. He’s an important part of the group.”

… expectations for the new season:

Dino Toppmöller: “As our board member for sport Markus Krösche already said, our aim is always to compete for the European places. Last season was extraordinary but we’re hungry to achieve that again and again. We’re aware that we’ve lost a very important player in Hugo Ekitiké, so we’ll have to adapt our attacking play a bit. We’re very satisfied with our season preparations so far. I’m thinking from game to game, I don’t want to talk too much about expectations. That’s how we worked last season. We need to work hard and then we’ll see. We’ve got a great spirit in the team. I really enjoy working with these lads. They have a great mindset, they always want to improve and they get on with one another really well.”
