Hansi Flick had recovered two important players for his attack before the game against Las Palmas, but unfortunately, these reinforcements were unable to help his Barcelona team get the required three points from this game.
One of these reinforcements was Lamine Yamal, who returned to the pitch after missing the last three games, against Real Sociedad, Celta Vigo, and Brest.
The other player was Ferran Torres, who had been out for a significantly longer time—six weeks—after injuring his right thigh hamstring in the match against Alavés.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Spaniard was one of the Barcelona players who spoke to the media after the 2-1 defeat to Las Palmas. He made it clear that his team has the ability to overcome difficult moments in matches, despite not being able to do so the previous night.
The former Manchester City forward wanted his team to get over this defeat as soon as possible: “We are capable of correcting mistakes and reacting. We’ve done it before. It’s time to recalibrate and clear our minds… not to forget the good things they’ve [Barcelona] accomplished so far this season.”
The Spanish winger revealed that the team was going through a negative moment emotionally: “We are frustrated and angry. We weren’t effective, nor did we play well. That’s the truth. Now, we have to focus on the next match.”
The Barcelona forward believed his team had slowed down in the last phase of the game: “In the final minutes of the game, the pace slowed. We weren’t effective or confident. It’s time to reflect.”
This is quite a sensible analysis of the game from Torres, who will now be looking to help his team overturn this negative situation in the league. His return will allow Flick to rotate his forwards more often, and thus keep getting the best out of each of them.
