Italy’s impressive journey at the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 came to an end, and a heartbreaking one at that, on Tuesday, 22 July. The Azzurre put in a spirited semi-final performance only to fall in extra time against England.

Barbara Bonansea had put Italy ahead in the first half with a fine finish, but Michelle Agyemang levelled for the reigning European champions in the 97th minute, before Chloe Kelly went on to book England’s place in the final with a late extra-time winner.

Cecilia Salvai, Martina Lenzini, and Cristiana Girelli all joined Bonansea in starting the game, while Michela Cambiaghi came off the bench in the second half to offer fresh legs and fight.

Italy’s elimination ends the Bianconere’s participation in the tournament, with England now awaiting either Spain or Germany in the final.

We couldn't be more proud of your efforts this summer, ladies, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Vinovo.
