Former Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville was on Paris Saint-Germain’s radar to bolster their attack. However, the Dutchman opted to remain in England and sign with West Ham United.

Summerville appeared in 49 games for Leeds United, netting 21 goals and adding 10 assists. Because of this production, he was on several clubs’ transfer wish lists this summer.

Last month, it was reported that PSG had contacted Summerville’s entourage about a potential transfer this summer and has the best assets to sign him. Moreover, another report revealed that Liverpool also made contact with the 22-year-old.

Nonetheless, it was West Ham that ended up winning the race to land Summerville and on Saturday, the Premier League club announced the player’s arrival. Furthermore, the winger spoke about his decision to join the Hammers.

“There is so much history here, and the team have done so well in the Premier League and in Europe over recent years,” Summerville told West Ham’s official website. “I spoke to [manager Julen Lopetegui], and he convinced me that I could make an impact, and help achieve success in the new season.

“I think I’m here to help write more history here, and I’d love to help West Ham get back into Europe. I want to contribute lots of goals and assists, and I’m so excited to meet my teammates and the fans, and get out there now.”

At PSG, it’s unlikely that Summerville would’ve been a starter right out the gate, so perhaps going to West Ham allows him to play as a starter sooner rather than later.
