Saïd Benrahma’s (28) failed transfer from West Ham United to Olympique Lyonnais is back on according to Les Gones CEO Laurent Prudhomme. Prudhomme was facing the media in a press conference this Friday afternoon alongside Lyon owner John Textor when he received the news he was waiting for regarding the club’s appeal to register Benrahma in Pierre Sage’s squad despite the closing of the winter transfer window.

Late last night, Lyon released a statement saying that the Ligue 1 club had entered all the administrative data needed to progress with Benrahma’s transfer onto FIFA’s dedicated platform, the Transfer Management System (TMS). However, they claim that the Algerian’s parent club, West Ham United, failed to do the same, “despite the repeated reminders… and continuous mutual telephone communication.”

Now, it appears that Lyon’s arguments to FIFA have not fallen on deaf ears. “I have just received a text from FIFA. They have accepted the TMS certificate for Benrahma’s transfer. It happened as we speak. Our efforts bear fruit“, Prudhomme said.

All that is needed now for the transfer to go ahead is the green light from the FA. It remains to be seen whether Benrahma will be registered on time for Lyon’s mouth-watering home Ligue 1 game against bitter rivals Marseille on Sunday night.
