In a recent blog, renowned presenter Richard Keys revealed that West Ham United wanted to land Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay last summer. It is believed that the Hammers boss David Moyes was willing to offer £30m to secure the services of the Scottish midfield ace.

McTominay’s Impressive Form At Old Trafford This Season

McTominay is having a decent campaign at the Mancunian club as he has put in a handful of productive displays at the heart of Erik ten Hag’s midfield. The Scottish talent has scored eight goals and picked up two assists in 28 matches for Man United this season across various competitions.

The 27-year-old has proven his worth at the centre of the park by averaging 1.7 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, 1.5 clearances and 1.6 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing possession from midfield after completing 83.1% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).

His current deal at Old Trafford will run out at the end of next season. Thus, the Hammers could potentially land him on the cheap if David Moyes opts to reignite his interest in him this summer.

Should West Ham United Boss David Moyes Go Back For McTominay?

McTominay loves a tackle and can make life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and can shoot the ball with power from long range.

The Scotland international deserves a lot of credit for chipping in by scoring a string of important goals for Man United this season. He is primarily a holding midfielder but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder or as a centre-back if asked to do so.

We can expect McTominay to bring more quality to West Ham‘s midfield department. He is good enough to nail down a regular starting spot at the London Stadium in the coming years. At 27, McTominay is about to enter his prime soon which makes him a worthy target for the Hammers to pursue later his year.

McTominay will enter the final year of his Man United contract this summer, so Moyes would be wise to go for him if he can generate enough funds to pull off such a transfer.
