Chelsea have been competing to finish within the top four in the Premier League standings by the end of the season. They made good improvements under Enzo Maresca. The club might be willing to sell the players who have been liabilities on the team and have no future at the club. One of them is certainly Joao Felix.
The Portugal international was one of the hot prospects while playing for Benfica. At Benfica, Felix was a sensational talent—silky smooth with the ball, weaving past defenders effortlessly. His vision, precise passing, and lethal finishing stood out. Quick, creative, and versatile, he played with flair and maturity, marking him as a generational star ready to shine on any stage.
All these qualities made Atletico Madrid pay a huge fee to sign him from Benfica. However, he did not shine at the Spanish club. Chelsea bought him for £45 million in the summer of 2024, which was a huge investment. However, he failed to put up the performances for the Blues and was loaned to AC Milan. The Portuguese attacker hasn’t been at his best at the Serie A club as well. So, it is most likely that he will be sold this summer.
Graeme Bailey in TBR Football has reported that West Ham United are interested in signing Felix. They want to strengthen their attack with a versatile forward amidst doubts regarding the future of Mohamed Kudus. This spell good news for the Blues, as they will be willing to recover much of the £45 million that they have invested in him.
It could spark a bidding war, driving up his transfer fee. As Chelsea want to offload him, this boosts their leverage, ensuring a better deal while freeing up funds and squad space for new signings to strengthen the team. We have to now wait and see if the Hammers go forward with a deal for Felix in the transfer window. Chelsea will be hoping for that to desperately happen, given the performances of the Portugal international.
