In a recent report, Football.London mentioned that West Ham United have made a bid to sign Chelsea outcast Emerson Palmieri. It is understood that the Hammers are looking to bring in more reinforcements after losing their second Premier League match to the newly promoted Nottingham Forest, which has forced Moyes to increase his options before they clash with Brighton in their third fixture.

Emerson’s Successful Loan Spell At Lyon Last Season

Emerson had a successful loan spell at Lyon in his previous campaign after producing some impressive displays in the defensive third of the pitch. He managed to score a goal and create two assists over 36 appearances last season across all competitions.

The Brazil-born sensation performed consistently after averaging 1.6 tackles, 0.9 interceptions and 2.1 clearances per game in Ligue 1. He was also tidy with his ball distribution after completing 86.7% of his attempted passes in the French top flight (stats via whoscored).

Emerson is a solid tackler of the ball, as he can time his tackles and make a few clever interceptions to win back possession. He has the ability to hold on to the ball and make some decent runs down the left flank. The Italy international possesses excellent ball control to get out of tight situations with ease. Furthermore, he can deliver some dangerous crosses from the wide areas creating opportunities for his teammates in front of the goal.

The East London club have suffered two consecutive defeats and their defensive department is lacking with Nayef Aguerd sidelined until mid-October, Craig Dawson out with a thigh issue and Angelo Ogbonna still recovering from a knee injury. They only have Aaron Cresswell to cover for the left-back position, so Emerson’s arrival would definitely bring in more competition and add more depth to West Ham’s defence.

David Moyes is working on bringing in multiple arrivals, and the Italian defender could join the club before they clash against Brighton in their next Premier League fixture, where the Hammers boss looks to turn things around.
