WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Hammers this morning.
The 25-year-old central defender joins West Ham United from Swedish club Hammarby IF where she has spent the last five years. Nyström has won the OBOS Damallsvenskan title and the Swedish Cup in her time with Söderbönorna.
On the international stage, Nyström has been capped by Finland on 14 occasions at senior level.
After joining West Ham United, Nyström said “I’m really happy to be joining West Ham United.
“I’ve had a successful few seasons behind me – playing in the Champions League and winning titles – but it’s always been a dream of mine to play in England. The WSL is full of good teams and this is a great opportunity for me to test myself against the best players in the world.
“I’m a defender who is confident on the ball and I do everything for the team. I feel like the Club’s values match mine and I’m really looking forward to continuing my development here.”
Nyström is West Ham United’s second signing of the January transfer window.
