In a recent report from Football.London, it was stated that West Ham United are willing to move on from their Academy graduate Declan Rice as he attracts interest from several clubs. It is also mentioned that the Hammers have decided to put a hefty price tag of upwards of £150m on the England international should a club approach them for his signature.

Rice’s Run Of Form With West Ham United

Declan Rice had a solid campaign after producing some dominant displays in the central areas of the field last season. He managed to score five goals and produce four assists over 50 appearances in his previous campaign. However, the Hammers find themselves in the relegation place despite the English midfield ace being in good form this season after producing two assists over nine appearances so far.

The Thames-born sensation has performed exceptionally since his debut establishing himself as a regular feature under David Moyes. He had performed consistently as he averaged 2.2 tackles, 1.8 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 0.7 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per game last season helping the East London club secure the seventh position in the Premier League table. He had also been tidy with his ball distribution completing 91.6% of his attempted passes in the English top-flight. Nevertheless, the talented midfielder has not had a brilliant start in the 2022-23 campaign (stats via whoscored).

Should David Moyes Cash In On Him Before His Contract Expires?

The England international has a solid presence in the central areas of the field, being a tough-tackling midfielder who can sense the danger quickly and stop the opposition attackers in their tracks. He is not afraid to put his foot through the ball when the opposition is looking to threaten his backline and can even make some clever interceptions to earn the ball back for his team. He excels at distributing possession to his teammates and can create some meaningful opportunities in the final third.

Rice is a key player for the Hammers and the East London club won’t be selling him for anything less than humongous money but not many top-tier Premier League clubs could meet such demands. The 23-year-old had caught the eye of Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City this summer but decided to extend his contract with West Ham.

It comes as a shock to see David Moyes and the West Ham chiefs allowing offers for the England international but with the current situation at the club, it would be for the best if they can find a suitable deal for him. This could in turn bring in a hefty sum that could be utilised in bringing more reinforcements to strengthen the squad in the foreseeable future.
