In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke mentioned that West Ham United are locked in a three-way battle for Bournemouth star Lloyd Kelly. It has been stated that the Hammers would have to rival Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in the race to sign the English talent in the summer.

Solanke’s Impressive Form In The Premier League This Season

The 26-year-old is having the best campaign of his young career this season in the Premier League as he has put in a lot of fruitful displays for the Cherries in the final third. Solanke has banged in 19 goals and grabbed four assists in 36 matches for Bournemouth this season in multiple competitions.

The Basingstoke-born talent has been a good contributor in the opponent’s half and deserves credit for averaging 2.9 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, he has lacked quality when distributing the ball up top after completing 74.6% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).

His current deal at the Vitality Stadium will expire in the summer of 2027 which would make it tough for West Ham to win the race for his services on a cut-price deal in the upcoming transfer period.

West Ham United Are Locked In A Three-Way Battle For Solanke: Is He Worth The Fight?

Solanke can create some space for himself to get a few shots at goal. He has proven himself to be a reliable presence in the final third and can even engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates in and around the opponent’s penalty area.

The English sensation is also quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty area. However, he needs to find a way to improve his link-up play on the offensive end of the field.

At 26, Solanke is about to enter his prime which makes him a great choice for West Ham boss David Moyes to consider at the end of this season. He would bring plenty of firepower to the East London club‘s frontline and would serve as an upgrade over Michail Antonio who has entered the twilight years of his playing career at the London Stadium.
