In a recent report, Calciomercato has mentioned that West Ham United are keeping a keen eye on Sassuolo playmaker Filip Djurucic. It is understood that that the Hammers have to rival Southampton in the race to land the Serbian attacker.

Djuricic’s Solid Start To This Serie A Season

The Obrenovac-born sensation has caught the eye by putting in a few impressive performances as a valuable member of Sassuolo’s first team. Djuricic featured in eight matches for the Italian outfit in the previous campaign, finding the back of the net twice and earning one assist across all fronts.

The 29-year-old has given a good account of himself in the opposition half based on his average of 1.6 tackles, 2.0 shots, 1.3 key passes and 2.1 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has even relatively distributed the ball relatively well after making 79.5% of his attempted passes in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).

Is Djuricic The Right Choice For The Hammers?

Djuricic has a good football IQ that helps him get into some promising areas in the final third. He has decent pace in his locker and can make a few encouraging runs with the ball deep inside the opponent’s half. The Serbian talent has got the vision to cut open the opposition half with a killer pass going forward. He has even chipped in by scoring a couple of important goals for Sassuolo in recent weeks.

Djuricic is slowly but surely establishing himself as a top performer in top-flight football. Hence, West Ham head coach David Moyes might fancy his chances of getting the best out of the player in the coming seasons. However, there are some concerns over whether he can make a smooth transition to life in England if the Hammers manage to get him on board next year.

At 29, the Serbian sensation has still got a few good years left in him to play at a high level which makes him a decent choice for the East London giants to consider in January or when the talented playmaker becomes a free agent at the end of this season. Djuricic will even add some good competition for the likes of Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma at the London Stadium over the next few years.
