In a recent segment of the Daily Briefing, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that West Ham United have still not opened talks for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah. It has been revealed that the Hammers have not begun concrete talks for the English forward who remains focused on his career with the Gunners.

Nketiah’s Lack Of First-Team Chances In North London This Season

Nketiah has struggled to earn regular first-team starts at the North London club and has often had to settle for a spot on Mikel Arteta’s bench. The 24-year-old has registered six goals and five assists in 33 matches for Arsenal this season in various competitions.

The English forward has seen most of his appearances come off the bench which could be why he is only averaging 1.5 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has been tidy with his ball distribution after making 80.7% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Emirates Stadium will run out in the summer of 2027 which would make it tough for West Ham to seal a move for him on the cheap this summer.

Should West Ham United Boss David Moyes Bring Nketiah On Board?

Nketiah excels at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in on target. He can make a few driving runs with the ball in the attacking end of the field and can create some good chances for others around him up top.

The English forward is usually quite tidy with his link-up up top. Hence, he might be a decent acquisition for the Hammers to consider in the summer. Nketiah has what it takes to bring more firepower to West Ham head coach David Moyes’s frontline.

The Arsenal striker is more than capable of competing with Michael Antonio and Jarrod Bowen for a regular starting spot at the London Stadium next season. Therefore, the Hammers should think about bringing him on board at the end of this season. Nketiah already knows the Premier League well and won’t take much time to settle into life at the East London club if Moyes can find a way to snap him up later this year.
