In a recent report, The Evening Standard has claimed that West Ham United are desperate to keep Jesse Lingard beyond this summer with his loan contract from Manchester United set to run out at the end of this campaign. However, it is believed that the Hammers will face competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal in pursuit of the English playmaker in this off-season (via The Evening Standard).

Lingard’s Excellent Form While On Loan With The Hammers

Lingard has been a breath of fresh air since joining the East London outfit on loan back in January as he has been responsible for producing quite a few match-winning displays from the number ten position in David Moyes’ first XI. The 28-year-old has found the back of the net on eight occasions and provided four assists in nine matches for the Hammers this term across various competitions.

The Warrington-born sensation has thrived playing in Moyes’ system at the London Stadium as he is averaging 2.9 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in the Premier League this season. Lingard has distributed possession relatively well, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 79.4% in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).

The England international has done more than enough to justify a permanent move to West Ham, so Moyes would be wise to make an offer for him when the summer transfer window reopens later this year.

What Does The English Talent Offer On The Pitch?

Lingard is a quick and agile attacking midfielder who can complete some dangerous dribbles with the ball towards the opposition penalty box. He has got the eye to play a decisive pass in the attacking third.

Furthermore, the 27-time England international has improved his finishing in front of the opponent’s goal which has made him such a great offensive weapon for West Ham. However, there are slight concerns over whether he can be as effective as he has been of late for the whole season.

Is Recruiting Lingard Permanently A No-Brainer For West Ham?

At the moment, Lingard is keeping West Ham in pole position to secure a top-four place in the Premier League. If Moyes’ men do end up qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, it is a no-brainer for them to do everything they can to keep Lingard at the London Stadium beyond this summer. At 28, he is currently playing at his prime, so the Hammers can expect to see the best out of him in the coming seasons.
