West Ham United chairman David Sullivan confirms Declan Rice will be sold this summer | OneFootball

Following West Ham’s historic Europa Conference League win on Wednesday evening, where they won their first trophy for 43 years in a 2-1 victory over Fiorentina, club chairman David Sullivan confirmed that captain Declan Rice will be sold this summer.

When dicsussing with talkSPORT whether the final in Prague would be Rice’s last game for the side, Sullivan stated “We promised him he could go. He set his heart on going and in due course he has to get on and we have to get a replacment. It is not something we wanted to happen. We offered him £200,000 a week 18 months ago and he turned it down. You can’t keep a player who doesn’t want to be there.”

The London club expect several offers to come in for the England midfielder, with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United said to be heavily interested, whilst German giants Bayern Munich also intensifying their efforts to sign him as they look for a new No. 6 this summer. Of the three potential suitors, Mikel Arteta’s side seem to be the most advanced in their pursuit to sign the talented 24-year-old, with reports suggesting they have been preparing a £92m bid.

However, The Gunners bid may not be enough, with Sky Sports News undertsanding that The Hammers want £120m in order to let their captain depart, but they could be willing accept an offer of £100m should a player from the bidding club also be included in the exchange.

Although Rice’s departure does seem likely this summer, Sullivan has confirmed that the Irons will not lose both their star player and Manager before the start of next season, with The Athletic reporting that the Welsh businessman has insisted the club wish to keep ex-Manchester United manager David Moyes in charge until at least next summer- providing the Scotsman wants to continue following the securance of his first ever major European trophy.
