In a recent report, Globo Esporte mentioned that West Ham United are leading the race for Corinthians winger Wesley. It has been claimed that the Hammers are the favourites to sign the Brazilian youngster this summer.

Wesley has come through the youth ranks of Corinthians and has done well to establish himself as a first-team starter for them recently. The 19-year-old has made 63 senior appearances for the Brazilian club thus far, scoring seven times and picking up four assists in various competitions.

The Brazilian prospect has been a consistent performer for Corinthians this season as he is averaging 1.3 shots, 1.5 key passes, 0.8 dribbles and 3.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Brasileirao. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after completing 79.8% of his attempted passes in the Brazilian first division (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Brazilian club will expire at the end of 2027. Hence, West Ham would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting Wesley later this summer.

West Ham United Are Leading The Race For Wesley: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Wesley is proficient at finding some space for himself and can be a lethal finisher in front of the opponent’s goal. He can even create the odd chance for his teammates on the offensive end of the pitch and is a decent dribbler with the ball as well.

However, the Brazilian starlet is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth in the Premier League. Still, there is no denying that he is a prospect to watch out for in the future. Therefore, West Ham would be wise to try and lure him to the London Stadium in the summer transfer period.

At 19, Wesley has got a bright future ahead of him and would be a great, long-term signing for the Hammers to pull off in this off-season. The Brazilian wide player could go on to be a success story at the East London club in the long run. Thus, it makes sense for West Ham to go all out to acquire Wesley’s services later this summer.
