In a recent report, A Bola mentioned that West Ham United are eyeing a move for Sporting CP winger Pedro Goncalves. It has been stated that the Hammers are locked in a three-way battle with Aston Villa and Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the race to sign the Portuguese wide player.
Pedro has been in fine form for Sporting during this campaign after putting in several match-winning displays for them on the right flank. The Portuguese talent has made 40 appearances for the Portuguese club this season, scoring16 goals and grabbing 14 assists in multiple competitions.
The 25-year-old has proven his worth in the final third by averaging 3.0 shots, 2.1 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in Liga Portugal. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution based on his pass success rate of 80% in the Portuguese top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Portuguese club will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, it won’t be easy for West Ham to sign him on the cheap at the end of this season.

Pedro is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few clever runs with the ball out on the flanks. He has got the vision to set up some promising chances for others around him on the offensive end of the field.
The Portuguese talent can even shoot the ball with venom from long range. He has scored and created a lot of important goals for Sporting this season. Pedro is primarily a right-winger but can also play as a left-sided wide player or in the number ten position if told to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can maintain his good form in Premier League football if the Hammers manage to get him on board this summer.
At 25, Pedro will only get better in the coming seasons. Hence, he would be a great option for West Ham to pursue in the upcoming transfer window. However, the East London club would have to be patient before they can get the best out of him at the London Stadium.
