In the last few seasons, West Ham United have seen a lot of inconsistencies in their performance. After making it to the European competition, the club had tried to find stability in its performance, but this path had not been easy, and now they are out of Europe, and also finished at the bottom half of the Premier League table last season.

The presence of Graham Potter has brought new ideas to the team, but there still seems to be a lack of balance and creativity in the midfield. The sharpness that was seen in some matches in the club’s performance disappeared in the very next match. This is the reason why the hopes of change in the midfield have increased before the new season.

New names are now being discussed in the streets of East London. West Ham United are looking at many options in the transfer market, especially for players who can provide leadership along with experience. The team have had some matches where points slipped away due to losing control of the ball in the midfield. This is the reason why the club are now looking for a midfielder who can set the tempo of the game and maintain the pace of the team. This search has now reached the land of Italy.

According to Italian media reports, West Ham United are in talks for AS Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini. It is being reported that Roma can let him leave on a free transfer to lighten their wage bill. The 29-year-old midfielder, who earns around £6m annually, has long played a key role for Roma. He has played 36 times for Italy and has captained the club since 2021.

Meanwhile, Guido Rodriguez’s time at West Ham has not been successful. He has failed to adjust since his arrival, and now many clubs are eyeing him for a transfer. Bringing in Pellegrini would give Potter a player who is adept at scoring goals and whom many compare to Frank Lampard. His presence could add experience, goal-scoring ability and captaincy qualities to the midfield.

Will Pellegrini be the right choice?

In our opinion, the Italian can make a big difference for West Ham. The midfield role is very important in Potter’s strategy, and Pellegrini fits that role. He is adept at a fast passing game and has a habit of scoring goals by entering the box. The 29-year-old’s captaincy experience will give the team mental strength.

This move will not only fill the void after Rodriguez’s departure but can also change the future of the team in the upcoming season. If he adapts quickly to the Premier League game, West Ham’s midfield can look much more dangerous. Such players often change the picture of the season, and this is what can be expected with Pellegrini’s arrival.
