In a recent print edition, Corriere di Verona mentioned that West Ham United are among several clubs hoping to sign Giovanni Simeone from Cagliari Calcio this summer. It is believed that the Hammers could face competition in the form of Newcastle United, Villarreal and Sevilla in the race to land the Argentine sensation.

Simeone’s Impressive Run Of Form In Italy This Season

Simeone has enjoyed an excellent loan spell at Hellas Verona this season as he has performed at a high level while spearheading their attack. The 26-year-old has banged in 17 goals and picked up six assists in 37 matches for the Italian side during this campaign in all competitions.

The former River Plate talent has performed well to average 2.0 shots, 0.7 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. However, he needs to improve his link-up play in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 70.4% in the top tier of Italian football (stats via whoscored).

Is Simeone A Good Fit For West Ham United Boss David Moyes?

Simeone excels at generating a yard of space for himself to get a few shots in on-target. He can even engineer some meaningful chances for others around him when he is playing well on the field. The Argentine striker knows how to find the back of the net consistently but only time will tell whether he can cope with the physical nature and high intensity of English football if David Moyes can find a way to win the race for his services this summer.

At 26, Simeone is about to enter his prime and would add some much-needed firepower to West Ham‘s attack. The Madrid-born sensation will offer decent competition for Michail Antonio at the London Stadium in the coming seasons.

We can expect Simeone to add more goals to Moyes’ attack. If the five-time Argentine international can work on improving his link-up in the final third, he would be a decent fit for the Hammers. Therefore, the East London side should think about going all out to secure the signature of the Argentine centre-forward when the transfer window commences next month.
