In a recent report, UOL claimed that West Ham United have agreed to sign Sao Paulo defender Luizao. It is believed that the Hammers are set to land the talented centre-back this January after coming to a pre-contract agreement with the Brazilian club.

Luizao’s Impressive Rise In Brazilian Football

Luizao has come through the youth ranks of Sao Paolo before going on to break out as a first-team starter earlier this year. The 20-year-old has found the back of the net on one occasion in 20 senior appearances for the Brazilian club this season in all competitions.

The Brazilian starlet has managed to put in a run of impressive performances for his current employers on the defensive end of the field.

His current contract with Sao Paulo is set to run out at the end of January 2023. Hence, West Ham have done well to agree on a deal to sign him on the cheap this winter as he got the potential to become a future star at the highest level.

West Ham United Agree To Sign Luizao: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Luizao has been a rock at the back for Sao Paolo since breaking into their senior team recently. He is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. Luizao is currently enjoying his football in Brazil but only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in English football.

The Brazilian sensation usually clears his lines when required and can use his strong 1.87m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to settle into life in English football.

Still, West Ham deserve credit for agreeing on a deal to bring him to the London Stadium this January. He will no doubt increase competition for places within David Moyes‘ squad and could help the Hammers compete for the domestic cups in the coming seasons.

At 20, Luizao has got the potential to become a world-class defender at the East London club and would be an excellent signing for West Ham in the long run. With all things considered, Luizao is definitely a prospect to watch out for in the future, so Moyes should fancy his chances of nurturing him into a real star in English football.
