West Ham have signed a top professional in Kurt Zouma, according to journalist Paul Brown.

What's the latest transfer news involving Kurt Zouma?

West Ham made the France international the second-biggest signing in the club's history this summer, snapping him up from Chelsea late in the transfer window.

Zouma made his first start for the Irons in mid-week against Dynamo Zagreb, helping his new club keep a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over their Europa League opponents.

Brown, meanwhile, believes Zouma's character and personality are as impressive as what he offers on the pitch for the East London club.

What has Paul Brown said about Zouma?

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Brown said: "He is great in the dressing room, like a really, really good personality, top professional, always turning up with a smile on his face, never causing a problem. I think that means West Ham have got a good lad there, a good signing."

Is Brown's verdict surprising?

Not really. Of course, every player is different and their personalities will be unique to their own upbringings.

That being said, Zouma has been involved with elite football from an early age.

He made his professional debut for St. Etienne as a 16-year-old and by the age of 20 he had completed a high-profile move to Stamford Bridge.

At 21, he'd already picked up a first senior cap for France after representing them regularly at youth level.

There are of course plenty of examples where young footballers have struggled under the weight of their own hype.

But Zouma has experienced the level of professionalism required to make it at the top level since his mid-teens.

With that in mind, it's no surprise that he's being praised for carrying himself in the right way, and that will hopefully help set the standard for others at the London Stadium.

Who else did West Ham sign this summer?

Zouma was West Ham's biggest signing of the summer but he was by no means the only arrival in east London.

The Irons also spent relatively big on Nikola Vlasic, who cost an initial £26.8m, and made Craig Dawson's loan deal permanent.

They further signed Alex Kral and Alphonse Areola on loan from Spartak Moscow and PSG respectively.

It means West Ham have added both quality and depth to their squad. But whether those additions will be enough to combat Europa League football while maintaining or improving upon last season's sixth-place finish in the Premier League remains to be seen.
