Evann Guessand (23) is having another excellent season for OGC Nice, however, it could be his last for Le Gym, according to L’Équipe.
The Ivorian forward was already coveted last summer, before he opted to remain with his formative club. Ajax, managed by former Nice manager Francesco Farioli, were particularly interested. With nine goals and five assists in 27 games in all competitions, Guessand has confirmed the promise that he displayed in flashes last season.
L’Équipe understands that West Ham United are interested in the versatile forward and have already come into contact with the player’s entourage. Les Aiglons may be looking to sell the forward for around €30m at the end of the season, and whilst it is likely that he departs, it is not a given. Qualification for the UEFA Champions League may convince Guessand to stay at the Allianz Riviera. Nice are currently fifth in Ligue 1, two points off fourth-placed Lille OSC but with a game in hand.
If he does leave, Guessand would favour a move abroad, with a transfer either to the Bundesliga or the Premier League the most likely option. It is why the Nice forward was unreceptive to the interest recently shown by Olympique de Marseille, who are currently in the market for a replacement for Elye Wahi.
