West Ham remain interested in signing Scott McTominay and Conor Gallagher.

West Ham reportedly “retain an interest” in Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay despite the signings of James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez.

David Moyes’ side were the last Premier League club to make a signing this summer despite securing £100million for Declan Rice in July.

Clearly eager to replace his former captain with a number of players, Moyes has signed Alvarez from Ajax and Ward-Prowse from Southampton – on top of Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos – for around £85m.

There is clearly plenty of money left over as the Europa Conference League holders are keen on signing McTominay and/or Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

According to The Independent journalist Miguel Delaney, the Red Devils are hoping to sell players to fund a move for Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, with West Ham still interested in signing McTominay.

“On that, many scouts were in attendance for United’s recent friendlies against Burnley and Everton, as the Old Trafford hierarchy seek to make sales,” Delaney said in the Reading the Game newsletter.

“It was really only McTominay that impressed, although the price is currently quite high for clubs looking.

“Summing up the previous point, United would seek to use the money to bring in Amrabat.

“West Ham United retain an interest in McTominay, as they continue to negotiate on Ajax’s Muhammed Kudus.”

The Evening Standard also confirmed the Hammers’ eagerness to sign McTominay and it is added that Chelsea pair Ian Maatsen and Gallagher are ‘braced for further interest’.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail has reported that staff at Chelsea do not want Gallagher to leave this summer after being upset at fellow youth graduate Mason Mount’s departure to Manchester United.

“Plenty of people here not happy at Mason being allowed to leave. He was the shining light used for the kids,” a source told the website. “That’s why we want Conor to stay too.”
