West Ham United are reportedly readying a £16 million offer for Bournemouth striker Josh King as they look to bring him to the London Stadium this month.

According to The Sun, the Hammers have already had a £13 million offer rejected by the Championship club, who remain keen to cash in but are holding out for a higher fee despite the fact he has entered the final six months of his contract.

It seems they may get just that as the report claims that West Ham are preparing a bid worth £16 million in the hope of bringing the Norway international to the London Stadium this month.

The Premier League club are on the lookout for a new striker after selling Sebastian Haller to Ajax in the winter window and failing to sign Youssef En-Nesyri from Sevilla.

King is a proven forward in the top flight, having scored 48 times in the division, and was heavily linked with a move back there in the summer.

He has been little more than a bit-part player for the Cherries this term, making 11 Championship appearances as Bournemouth look to bounce straight back up to the Premier League.

Did these 25 players make more or less than 100 West Ham appearances?

The Verdict

This looks like a deal that could work for all the parties involved.

King is clearly keen to get back to the Premier League, while the Hammers need to reinforce their forward line.

£16 million is a good fee for Bournemouth considering the player’s contract is set to expire in the summer and you’d imagine that, unless they get promoted, he’ll leave for free then.

That said, it wouldn’t surprise me if the Cherries tried to play a bit of hard ball to drive the price up further before the end of the window.
