According to @ExWHUEmployee, the 19-year-old has completed his medical and the player and the club will finalise the deal this morning, with an announcement due today.

With Earthy due to sign on a season-long loan, BristolLive do not believe the deal will impact the Robins' pursuit of Scott Twine.

Earthy signing would be a coup for Bristol City

The season-long loan signing of Earthy from West Ham would represent something of a coup for Championship side City. Having some through the ranks at West Ham, the attacking-midfielder has made three senior appearances in the Premier League, scoring once.

Furthermore, Earhty has represented England at youth level and was selected for the Under-20 squad. The 19-year-old was named Young Hammer of the Year and has featured in the Hammers' pre-season.

Although Earthy has made significant progress at West Ham, he would find it challenging to break into the Hammers' first team. With the Premier League side's options in attacking-midfield already strong, Julen Lopetegui has also added Crysencio Summerville and Luis Guilherme to his ranks.

Bristol City represents an appealing opportunity for Earthy and City alike. With the player set to sign for City, he will have the opportunity to benefit from regular first team football in the Championship, where he can make a real name for himself.

When speaking of Earthy last season, former Hammers boss, David Moyes, was full of praise for the midfielder: “George is a really, really talented player. What George will need to do is build up and improve his strength and his power. His football ability is not in question one bit, but it will be more about how he can handle and come into the Premier League.

"You think of the likes of David Silva, players like that who might have been slight in stature, but they still found a way. George’s challenge now will be to find a way of developing that to the point where he can become an established Premier League player.”

Even with the Robins closing in on Earthy, it should not impact the club's pursuit of Burnley midfielder, Twine, who also plays in attacking-midfield.

Twine has been one of City's main targets this summer, after the midfielder impressed during his loan at Ashton Gate last season. Although the 25-year-old's loan was impacted by injury, the Robins saw enough to want to lure him back.

Despite City's interest in Twine, it has been difficult to get a deal completed with Burnley looking for a substantial fee. With Twine likely to be a squad player at Turf Moore, it is likely he would welcome a return to Ashton Gate.

At 25 years of age, the attacking-midfielder is entering the prime of his career and will not want to let the opportunity of playing first team football pass him by. Twine is an experienced Championship midfielder, having made 49 appearances during his spells at Burnley, Hull City and with the Robins.

With Earthy set to sign, it will ease the pressure on Manning to bring in Twine. However, they will still want to get a deal over the line before the transfer window closes.

The signing of Earthy would represent an impressive piece of business for the Robins and could edge them ahead of their Championship rivals.

However, the club should also press ahead with a deal to sign Twine, who would complement Earthy in City's midfield. Furthermore, competition for places will only be a positive.

If the club can get both deals over the line, then the Robins would make a real statement of intent.
