The Sun – West Ham boss David Moyes is trying to bring Steve Nzonzi back to the Premier League from his travels around Europe. Midfielder Nzonzi can move from Roma on loan and is fielding offers, with the Hammers keen to recruit him.

Moyes was after Nzonzi in the past and thinks he would be an asset as he has top-flight experience in England. Nzonzi, 31, has played in Spain, Italy and Turkey since starting his career in England with Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City. Aston Villa also showed an interest in Nzonzi, but Moyes’s long-term quest for him may influence the final decision.

The French international made 195 appearances in the Premier League, the last of which coming for Stoke in their 6-1 demolition of Liverpool in 2015.

The rangy midfielder was on the scoresheet in that match and soon after was attracting significant interest both domestically and abroad. He signed for Sevilla that summer and impressed in La Liga. He was part of Les Bleus’ squad the following summer that hoisted the World Cup, appearing in five of the seven matches. This included a 35 minute cameo in the victory over Croatia in the final.

Nzonzi could bolster the West Ham midfield, offering competition to current engine-room occupants Declan Rice and Mark Noble. His form even caught the eye of national team manager Didier Deschamps. And Nzonzi has gone on to win 14 caps for his country – making his debut in November 2017.
