West Ham ‘hold talks’ with Amorim as new Moyes replacement emerges | OneFootball

West Ham United have reportedly “hold talks” with Ruben Amorim, but the Portuguese is not the only candidate they are considering to replace David Moyes as manager.

The 39-year-old flew into London on Monday to discuss the possibility of replacing David Moyes should the Scot leave the Premier League club at the end of the season, according to The Athletic.

Amorim has been linked with taking over at Liverpool when Jurgen Klopp leaves Anfield this summer, but it is believed he is no longer in serious consideration for the soon-to-be vacant role.

The former midfielder came to prominence after winning the league title with Sporting Club in 2021 and knocking Arsenal out of the Europa League last season. He’s also won the Portuguese League Cup twice with the Lisbon outfit and once with Sporting Braga.

West Ham are also said to be considering Julen Lopetegui for the hot seat, with the Telegraph claiming he is a “serious candidate”.

Lopetegui has been out of work since resigning as Wolves manager last year, but has an impressive resumé that would appeal to the Hammers.

The 57-year-old won the Uefa Europa League with Sevilla, while he has also coached Real Madrid and the Spanish national team in the past.

Moyes, who is out of contract this summer, was offered a new contract in February, but delayed making a decision on his future until end of season.

West Ham are preparing contingencies in case Moyes does leave the club, by lining up Amorim and Lopetegui as potential candidates to be their next manager.
