West Ham target Armando Broja could cost up to £50m this summer, transfer insider Dean Jones has revealed.

It is a figure Jones says the Hammers will not touch, while he has also told GIVEMESPORT that Chelsea have not discussed the possibility of a swap deal involving the striker and Declan Rice, a player who they are interested in.

What is the latest news involving Broja?

West Ham manager David Moyes is looking to bring a new centre-forward to the London Stadium this transfer window, and it appears that Broja is his top target.

As per The Sun, the Hammers have the 20-year-old at the top of their list and are prepared to pay £30m for his services.

He spent last season out on loan at Southampton, where he managed to make 38 appearances in all competitions for the Saints.

Ultimately, it was a productive loan spell for Broja, who got a real taste of senior football in England.

What has Jones said about Broja and West Ham?

Jones has told GMS that it may take a £50m offer to prise Broja away from Stamford Bridge this summer, a figure West Ham will not go near.

Chelsea, of course, retain an interest in Rice, so there is always the possibility that they offer the Hammers Broja and cash for the midfielder. However, according to Jones, that is not something that has been discussed yet.

The journalist said: “So far, that hasn’t happened. West Ham have made contact, and it’s been about what’s his figure. And Chelsea have basically stuck a price tag on him that West Ham aren’t going to touch, which is between 40 and 50 million. So, at the moment, there hasn’t been any negotiating around that.”

Should West Ham pay £50m for Broja?

Broja is a striker who looks perfect for English football’s top flight. “So much power, good dribbler, cracking finisher,” football journalist Adam Goodwin said when talking about him in March.

He stands at 6 ft 3 and is pretty good in the air. Over the last year, the Albanian has ranked in the 86th percentile for aerials won among forwards (via FBref).

Broja is still just 20 years of age as well, so he obviously has time to develop into an even better centre-forward. It is the kind of thing some managers look at when buying players, but they will still understandably have an eye on now.

Last season, the Albania international registered six times in the Premier League. That quite simply does not warrant West Ham dropping £50m on him.
