Pablo Fornals opened the scoring five minutes before half-time in Bucharest when he latched onto a long ball over the top from Ben Johnson before firing in first time on the half-volley.

Replays appeared to show that the Spaniard was offside when the pass was played but with no VAR in the competition, the goal was allowed to stand.

The second goal came 11 minutes into the second half, when 18-year-old Divin Mubama connected powerfully with a Flynn Downes header. The youngster celebrated but it went down as an own goal after deflecting in off defender Joyskim Dawa.

It was soon 3-0 as Fornals got on the scoresheet for a second time, capitalising on a mistake from goalkeeper Ștefan Târnovanu to convert a fumbled ball.

Elsewhere, a 1-0 win for Anderlecht over Silkeborg was enough for the Belgian side to finish second in the group.
