West Ham United are the ‘frontrunners’ to sign Keane Lewis-Potter despite the London Stadium outfit facing stiff competition for the Hull City starlet, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Hammers boss David Moyes has already succeeded in recruiting new options at the defensive end of the pitch, with Nayef Aguerd and Alphonse Areola joining, but Lewis-Potter is also known to be among his attacking targets.

What’s the latest news involving Lewis-Potter?

Brentford are among the clubs eager to lure Lewis-Potter away from Championship side Hull and have tabled a £16million bid.

It comes after 90min claimed West Ham are leading the race for the winger’s services despite failing to test the Tigers’ resolve with a formal offer.

The report suggests this is Brentford’s second proposal, having already been rebuffed by Hull, while Watford are another club who have been unable to reach an agreement for the four-cap England under-21 international.

Everton have also enquired about Lewis-Potter and Leeds United are understood to be keeping tabs on his situation.

The list of Lewis-Potter’s admirers does not stop there as Brighton & Hove Albion, Bournemouth, Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested.

What has Dean Jones said about Lewis-Potter?

Jones believes West Ham are in pole position to strike a deal for Lewis-Potter despite Brentford heading back to the negotiating table.

However, the transfer insider is aware the 21-year-old has attracted widespread interest ahead of the new season getting underway.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I don’t really see Leeds winning that race, as it stands right now. I still have West Ham as my favourites to get him.

“Brentford and Watford have both had knockbacks on him recently, so I presume they’re still knocking on the door too.”

Why would Lewis-Potter choose West Ham over his other suitors?

If Lewis-Potter is mulling over whether he will be given the opportunity to make a breakthrough in the Premier League with West Ham, he only needs to look at Jarrod Bowen, who made the £22million move from Hull in 2020.

Bowen has gone from strength to strength under Moyes’ guidance, with him now being a four-cap England international and racking up 50 goal contributions in 104 Hammers appearances.

Lewis-Potter enjoyed an impressive 2021/22 campaign, finding the back of the net 13 times and registering a further four assists, and Bowen’s form shows the London Stadium could be the perfect destination as he aims to take his career to the next level.
