West Ham are interested in a deal for 16-year-old Peterborough United striker Adler Nascimento, Hammers insider ExWHUemployee has revealed.

Nascimento has excelled for Peterborough at youth level recently, and made his senior debut for Posh in their 4-1 win over Doncaster on the final day of last season, as the club completed their League One promotion winning campaign in style.

Now it seems as though the Portuguese attacker is attracting interest from the Premier League, with Nascimento likely to be handed the opportunity to impress on trial for the Hammers, with the view to a permanent deal.

Speaking on The West Ham Way podcast about their interest in the Peterborough youngster, ExWHUemployee said: “Another player we’re looking at with the view to signing him is a guy called Adler Nascimento, who is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Peterborough United. He’s likely to be on trial ahead of signing permanently.”

Discussing what he has heard about Nascimento already, the insider went on to add: “He scored the winning goal to clinch the title for Peterborough’s academy side and apparently he’s very highly recommended, according to a couple of people I’ve spoken to on him today.”

Did these 20 midfielders ever score a goal for Peterborough?

Peterborough are of course preparing for life back in the Championship following their promotion from League One last the season, although the club are yet to make a senior signing during the summer transfer window.

The Verdict

This will likely be somewhat disappointing news from a Peterborough United perspective.

Given they were willing to hand Nascimento his debut at the age of just 16 at the end of last season, it does seem as though the Portuguese attacker possesses a huge amount of potential and ability.

That therefore, could have made him a big asset to Posh for many years to come, although this interest from West Ham means it now seems they are going to miss out on that.

However, given the opportunity that this move would give him to play at a club the size of West Ham, and the financial return he could get from it, means you can’t really blame Nascimento for being open to a move such as this.
