Julen Lopetegui looks to be on the brink of being sacked as West Ham United manager.
The Hammers have decided to keep him in place for Monday’s crunch clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers, but the Spaniard will likely be dismissed if they lose the game.
West Ham have already started considering replacements for Lopetegui.
Several big names have been linked with the club, including Edin Terzic, Graham Potter and Max Allegri.
The Daily Mirror claims West Ham are weighing up a move for Michael Carrick, having been impressed with his work at Middlesbrough.
He is reportedly one of the names high up on the shortlist at the London Stadium.
The 43-year-old began his career at West Ham and went on to make over 100 appearances for them.
Carrick spent most of his career at Manchester United, but he is still remembered fondly at the Hammers.
The former England international has been Boro’s manager since October 2022.
He led them to the play-off semi-finals in his first campaign before guiding them to the last four of the League Cup last term.
Middlesbrough are doing well this season, and they will be reluctant to lose Carrick.
