West Ham consider approach for Italian manager, he’s won six league titles | OneFootball

Julen Lopetegui is fighting to save his job at West Ham United after a disastrous start to the season.

The Hammers lost 3-1 to Leicester City on Tuesday, with the result prompting the club’s hierarchy to hold talks over the 58-year-old’s future.

West Ham have decided the Spaniard will remain in place for the crunch clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, and the game will be his last chance to impress the board.

According to the Telegraph, the club are considering making an approach for Massimiliano Allegri.

Allegri is one of the top managers around, and landing him would represent a significant coup for West Ham.

The Italian boss has been out of work since leaving Juventus last summer.

His two stints at the Old Lady were hugely successful, as he led them to an incredible eleven trophies, including five Serie A titles.

Allegri has also managed AC Milan between 2010 and 2014, where he won a Scudetto and a Supercoppa Italiana.

However, a move to London may not appeal to the 57-year-old, as West Ham are looking to appoint a successor to Lopetegui on an initial six-month contract until the end of the season.

Graham Potter is another candidate the Hammers are looking to appoint as their boss.

Potter was very successful during his time at Brighton & Hove Albion, but he failed to replicate his success at Chelsea and survived less than seven months before being sacked.

The English boss could be tempted to join West Ham on a short-term deal, as he still lives in Brighton.
