Andrei Cordea gave the visitors the lead at the midway point of the first half, finishing off a swift move to tap home Darius Olaru’s low cross to the back post.

Summer signing Gianluca Scamacca spurned a great opportunity to get the Hammers level just before the break, but the Italian dragged his shot wide under very little pressure.

West Ham were given a like line an hour into the game when an error in judgement from keeper Stefan Tárnovanu who misjudged the flight of the ball and caught Maxwell Cornet, with a penalty awarded.

Jerrard Bowen stepped up and emphatically dispatched the penalty into the roof of the net and beyond Tárnovanu’s outstretched hand before Emerson fired the hosts ahead from close range.

The comeback was finished off by Michail Antonio who used his strength to turn in midfield before driving at goal and finishing with aplomb to make it 3-1.
