West Ham United manager David Moyes and his staff fear they will be sacked if they lose to Southampton, reports the Daily Mail.

The Hammers are 18th in the Premier League after 26 games and will be keen to resume action with a bang on Sunday.

They have won just two of their last 14 league games and Moyes is walking a tightrope.

The six-pointer against bottom-placed Southampton is a must-win for the West Ham boss.

Only five of their 14 defeats have come at home, and they will fancy their chances against the Saints.

However, the fans will likely call for Moyes’ head if the Irons fail to pick up all three points.

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan is expected at the London Stadium for the game.

He will expect the club to win, and failure to do so could cost Moyes his job.

Despite impressing since he replaced Manuel Pellegrini in December 2019, the club will not hesitate to part with the Scottish manager if their fortunes do not change.

West Ham spent £165 million on transfers last summer and were tipped to go one better after finishing seventh.

Moyes was close to losing his job in January, but a 2-0 win over Everton came to his rescue.

West Ham play three games in seven days after action resumes, with Newcastle United and Fulham next after the Saints match.

The results and performances from the three games could determine Moyes’ future.

Eleven managers have left their clubs this term, and the former Manchester United manager has to get his men firing on all cylinders to avoid joining that list.
