West Ham United are on the verge of signing Tammy Abraham from AS Roma, according to Italian media outlet Corriere della Sera (page 7).

The Hammers have proposed a loan deal with an obligation to buy the player for around €22 million.

Abraham did not feature in the recent defeat to Empoli, with Roma manager Daniele De Rossi preferring to rely on Eldor Shomurodov off the bench.

AC Milan had expressed interest in Abraham and offered Alexis Saelemaekers in exchange, but West Ham’s pursuit has gained momentum.

They believe they can agree personal terms with the player despite his high wage demands.

The 26-year-old has previously played for Chelsea, Bristol City, Swansea City and Aston Villa. Despite a recent injury setback, he remains a highly sought-after talent.

West Ham’s decision to pursue Abraham may raise eyebrows, given the presence of Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio in their squad. However, the club views Abraham as a long-term investment.

The striker can take time to adapt to Julen Lopetegui’s football without the immediate pressure to deliver while also serving as a potential successor to Fullkrug and Antonio.
