David Moyes has revealed his choice as the Premier League’s Manager of the Year and says there ‘is only one candidate’ for the accolade this season.

Moyes has won plenty of plaudits following a hugely impressive turnaround of West Ham’s fortunes this season, guiding the Hammers into the top four and Champions League places as we prepare to enter the final third of the campaign.

After narrowly avoiding relegation last season it is a remarkable improvement and has led to some suggesting Moyes as the Premier League’s Manager of the Year, though the West Ham boss has dismissed those suggestions and says there is ‘only one candidate’ ahead of the end-of-season accolades.

West Ham travel to face league leaders Manchester City in the Premier League this weekend and Moyes believes it is the man in the opposite dugout who deserves the individual acclaim this season.

“There is only one candidate and that is Pep,” Moyes said at his pre-match press conference.

“This is the best chance Manchester City have had of winning the Champions League and everybody is sure Man City are going to win the league.

“They are in one cup final and in with a chance of another.

“You would have to be football stupid not to recognise their quality.”

Moyes also provided a fitness update on his side ahead of the clash and revealed that Ryan Fredericks is a doubt for the trip to the Etihad after picking up a slight groin strain, whilst Arthur Masuaku and Andriy Yarmolenko remain absent.
