West Ham and Spurs end WSL season with 2-2 draw | OneFootball

Sitting in eighth and ninth respectively, West Ham and Spurs had little to compete for as the final match of the season got underway.

The Hammers were guaranteed to finish the season at least four points behind last seasons tally, while Spurs could collect a maximum of 20 points, 12 behind last year’s 32.

A brace from Bethany England put two on the board for Spurs but West Ham we able to hit back through Emma Snerle and a Kit Graham own goal.

West Ham vs Spurs — How it went

With little over 20 minutes on the clock, England had already given her side the lead. With Spurs enjoying the slightly better opening spell, the forward headed the ball home from a corner to put the visitors into the lead.

However, it wasn’t long before the hosts found a reply. Snerle’s 38th minute shot brought the game back level as the first half drew towards its close. Barely six minutes later, Tottenham’s agony had only grew. A 44th minute own goal from Graham saw Spurs go in trailing at the break.

The second half saw England quickly restore the deadlock, though. Capitalising on a second excellent assist from Rosella Ayane, the Spurs No.19 bagged her brace in the 48th minute. The fourth goal of the afternoon then brought about a relative lull in the game. With neither side able to gain a clear advantage, the game quickly became end-to-end, with both goalkeepers being called into action as the tie progressed.
