West Ham have now made Armando Broja their “main target” in the current transfer window, according to The Sun journalist Tom Barclay.

David Moyes is keen to bolster his front line, and has set his sights on the Chelsea man, who spent last season on loan at Southampton.

What’s the latest news involving Broja?

Broja impressed at St Mary’s in 2021/22, scoring nine goals in all competitions for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men.

His performances have caught the eye of West Ham, with Sky Sports claiming that the Irons are ready to bid £30m for the 20-year-old.

The Hammers have already made one signing this summer, having brought in centre-back Nayef Aguerd from Rennes.

What has Barclay said about Broja?

After sealing a deal for Aguerd, Barclay has stated that West Ham’s main focus is on bringing in a new striker, and they want to land Broja.

Speaking about the Albanian international to GIVEMESPORT, Barclay said: “West Ham definitely want him. He’s become their main target, having got the centre-back they wanted. They obviously need a new forward, it’s clear for anyone to see that they were lacking depth up front. As good as Antonio is, he needs a bit of help.”

Would Broja go straight into West Ham’s starting XI?

Broja would find himself in a direct battle with Michail Antonio for the lone striker role if he decided to move to the London Stadium, and the 32-year-old has rarely let West Ham down over the years.

In his last three seasons, Antonio has hit double figures for league goals every time, and this should see him remain the side’s first-choice striker at the start of next season.

However, Moyes’s team are going to be back in Europe again in 2022/23, and Antonio is not getting any younger, so he will need to be rested from time to time.

Broja looks to be a fine prospect, and he would be likely to get plenty of opportunities to impress if he did join West Ham.

Furthermore, learning from Antonio would help him develop his game as he looks to become one of the best strikers in the Premier League.
