West Bromwich Albion’s best chance of signing Daryl Dike in January is by agreeing an initial loan deal with an option to buy, as per a recent report by Birmingham Live.

The Orlando City frontman has seen his tock rise over the last six months following his impressive loan spell with Barnsley last season and has since been strongly linked with a move to the Hawthorns in order to work with Valerien Ismael once again.

However with the 21-year-old having also attracted the attentions of both Crystal Palace and Leeds United from the Premier League during this calendrer year, it has been suggested that Albion’s best route to signing the striker could be through the use of a loan deal that includes an option to buy the player if the club gets promoted.

Indeed Dike is a player that Orlando know they can make a lot of money off moving forwards, so therefore it is in their best interests to attempt to get the best deal possible for the attacker.

Dike’s contract expires in December 2022, meaning that a move to Europe is looking more and more likely for the USA international.

The Verdict

This would certainly be a complex transfer for West Brom to pull off during what is a traditionally difficult January window.

It is no secret that they want a striker in the new year, but perhaps this move could be a bridge too far because of its financial aspects.

Orlando are likely to want a lot of money for a player who is still 21 and with Ismael having worked with him before, the MLS side will know that the Frenchman will do everything he can to bring Dike in.

This is where the Baggies will have to be careful as the last thing they will want to happen is to be drawn into a potential bidding war with other clubs.
