FLW rounds-up the latest transfer news at The Hawthorns.
West Brom will be hopeful of a busy end to the January transfer window now they have secured Carlos Corberan’s successor.
Former Blackburn and Sunderland coach Tony Mowbray has returned for a second spell in charge of the Baggies, aiming to replicate his 2008 promotion with Albion back to the top flight.
Fortunately for the Baggies, the 61-year-old arrives with two weeks left of the January transfer window, so there remains plenty of time for the Black Country outfit to recruit the right type of players to suit his ideas and playing style.
West Brom already possesses a good amount of squad depth to cope with the strenuous demands of the second half of the season, but more quality in certain areas of the pitch could help the club cement a play-off place and guarantee a chance of making it back to the big time.
With the winter window being such an important time for Albion, Football League World rounds-up the latest transfer rumours in B71.
Northern Ireland international Isaac Price is set to become West Brom’s first signing of the January transfer window, with the 21-year-old due to have a medical in the West Midlands ahead of a permanent switch, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
Price, who had been playing his football in Belgium with Standard Liege, seemingly played his final game for the club over the weekend against Sint-Truidense and is currently in the West Midlands to complete a deal.
Coming through the youth ranks at Everton, Price is a versatile midfield player, capable of playing as an attacking, central, or defensive midfielder.
At Standard Liege, he has primarily been used as a box-to-box midfielder, so Mowbray will have a decision to make about where he will fit into his system in order to get the best out of him.
In a report by the Express & Star, West Brom are in talks with Premier League side Ipswich Town over a loan deal for forward Ali Al-Hamadi.
Albion are in desperate need of a new number nine with top scorer Josh Maja ruled out until spring with a lower leg injury, and it appears the Baggies have identified the Iraqi as a replacement.
The 22-year-old has found himself down the pecking order at Portman Road in the top flight and has only managed to feature in a handful of games under Kieran McKenna this season.
If the deal goes through, Albion will receive a much-needed boost by bolstering their frontline and will seemingly keep their promotion hopes intact by finding a replacement for the injured Maja so quickly.
West Brom are set to battle it out with Championship rivals Leeds United and Norwich City for the signing of St. Gallen striker Willem Geubbels, according to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas.
The 23-year-old began his career at Lyon and has further experience in France with Nantes before making the switch to Switzerland.
The former France youth international has scored nine goals so far this term in all competitions and can operate on either flank as well as in the number nine position.
