West Brom boss Steve Bruce‘s job at the Hawthorns is not safe right now, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The 57-year-old has been under constant pressure since he arrived at the Hawthorns in February and Jones reckons his position is not completely secure.

What’s the latest news involving Bruce?

Bruce was appointed as Valerien Ismael’s long-awaited replacement earlier this year, but he’s endured a torrid time in the Black Country.

In 29 games in charge, his Baggies team have only managed a disappointing eight victories in all competitions.

As a result of West Brom’s dreadful start to this season, Bruce’s side are just once place above the relegation zone, which has led to increased uncertainty surrounding his future.

They have scored 15 goals from their 10 second-tier matches, but five of those came in one win over Hull, highlighting their general struggles in front of goal.

What nickname is given to West Bromwich Albion?

The Baggies The Stripes The Throstles The Canaries

And Jones doesn’t think Bruce’s position in the dugout is safe following the Baggies’ poor recent run of results.

What did Jones say about Bruce?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I don’t actually think his job is totally safe. I think we’re going to have to see how he now restarts the season.

“I’m not sure it helps that Watford have made a change because Watford are 11 places higher than Steve Bruce’s and they already feel the need to change.”

What’s next for West Brom?

With the pressure mounting on Bruce, he needs to deliver something in the coming weeks.

Fortinately, five of their next six games are against sides ninth or lower, the exception being Reading, which should give them a chance to get up and running.

The Baggies return to action with a home game against Swansea on Saturday before travelling to Preston four days later.

It’s back to the comforts of their own home when Luton visit the Midlands, with games against Reading, Bristol City, Millwall and Sheffield United rounding off October.

West Brom’s final three fixtures before the World Cup are Blackpool, QPR and Stoke, which represent more winnable games on paper.

On the other hand, if Bruce doesn’t find some results before the season pauses in the middle of November, he could seriously be facing the sack, with his Baggies side already on the verge of slipping into the drop zone.
